“This will be our fifth one,” said Kelly Kitchens, program and special events coordinator for the Elizabethton Parks and Recreation Department. It began as a father-daughter dance, then mothers and sons were added and now it is just designated as a family dance.
There will actually be two dances, Kitchens said. The main dance will be held on Valentine’s Day, which is Friday, Feb. 14, from 6 to 8 p.m. The theme for this year’s dance is “Glow in the Dark.” There will be black lights to set the proper clouting aglow. Participants do not have not wear costumes or black light apparel, but can do so if they want to,
Kitchens said admission is free and there should be los of snacks available.
Kitchens said there will also be a “sensory friendly” themed Valentine’s dance on Thursday, Feb. 13. The volume of the music will be toned down and the there will be other calmer inputs for children who are sensitive to stimulus.
